Today is a mixed emotion kind of day. It's Friday, so yay!, but it's scary and sad as well. Last week, a friend of mine was killed in a tragic accident during a training exercise at Pope AFB. He was such a great man and friend. I hadn't spoken to him since he PCS'd last year, but I got to know him well as he trained me for my first 1/2 marathon. Today is his funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with his fiance and family, always.
I haven't shared much about what has been going on with me, so I would like to share now. About a month ago I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). It took almost a year to get to this diagnosis. I am so relieved to finally have one, and a treatment plan. After 8 blood draws, 7 Dr visits, countless theories, and a consult with the commander of the hospital later, I finally have a wonderful Dr and a working treatment plan. It's a relief and scary all at once.
It truly scares me to think that there might be a chance that I won't be able to have my own children. It scares me to think about how severe it could be and what the possible outcomes could be. Thankfully, I have a FANTASTIC specialist. I had an ultrasound 2 weeks ago, and today an X-Ray with contrast. Today was the last of the first part of my treatment plan. I don't know if there will be more exams, but I can almost guarantee none will be as painful as the one today.
I have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks and we will go over all of my exams and labs. I am excited to get the results and move on the the next part of my treatment plan. I am a little anxious of what my exams have shown, but thankful that we are moving along in the process.
On a happier note, we are down to less than 7 weeks! We have 5 fridays left after today! It's so crazy and I'm so excited!! We are looking for a place somewhere between Huntington Beach and Long Beach... So, if you know of a place, let me know!!! I can't wait to be by the beach and live a different life than this one we've loved for so long. It's time for a change.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!! Until next time......
